Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: Most of the population was lost by construction of two hydropower dams, one at each of the two ends of the gorge, and the flooding of the intervening area. This species is related to the more northern S. racemosa, the newly described and more western S. arenicola, and an undescribed species in e. TN.
