Intro: Erect or sprawling (but with upturned tips) annual found in the dry soil of fields, woodland edges, outrcrops and various disturbed area. Native to Eurasia.

Stems: Stems multiple from plant base, rather wiry, branched, dark purple and finely hairy.

Leaves: Leaves opposite, pairs spaced widely along stems, oval with pointed tips, about 1/4 in. long, sparsely rough-hairy.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in small clusters at upper ends of stems, 1-2 blooming at a time; white, less than 1/4 in. wide, consisting of 5 un-notched petals, 5 longer and more sharply pointed, green sepals, 10 stamens and 3 styles.

Fruits: Fruit a dry, oval capsule.
