Solidago uliginosa Nuttall var. uliginosa. Common name: Northern Bog Goldenrod. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Bogs, wet meadows, mafic fens, acidic seepage swamps. Distribution: ME, ON, MI and WI south to e. VA, w. NC, ne. TN, s. IN, and c. IL (reports from farther south are dubious and need additional evaluation; most southern material formerly identified as S. uliginosa is actually S. simulans or S. gracillima).
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Var. uliginosa is primarily tetraploid (2n=36), and has a more southern distribution than var. peracuta (Semple et al. 2019b).
