A genus of about 200 species, nearly cosmopolitan. Sections follow Nesom (2008b). Here circumscribed to include Conyza.
ID notes:The pappus of Erigeron has longer inner barbellate bristles (vs. Boltonia which lacks these); Erigeron also lacks winged cypselae margins.
