ASTERACEAE

Symphyotrichum georgianum (Alexander) Nesom. Georgia Aster. Phen: Early Oct-mid Nov (-Jan); Nov-Dec (-Jan). Hab: Dry, rocky woodlands, woodland borders, roadbanks, powerline rights-of-way, primarily in places that formerly would have burned and likely been post oak or blackjack oak woodlands or savannas, also in thin soils around granitic flatrocks. Dist: Sc. NC south to c. GA and west to c. AL; apparently disjunct on the Coastal Plain of sw. GA and e. Panhandle FL (Leon County).
