*Lotus Linnaeus. Birdsfoot-trefoil.
A genus of about 120-130 species, annual and perennial herbs (rarely suffrutescent), of temperate Eurasia. New World taxa often referred to Lotus are not closely related to Lotus, and have been segregated into Acmispon and Hosackia (Degtjareva et al 2006; Allan & Porter 2000).
