Myosurus Linnaeus. Subfamily: Ranunculoideae. Tribe: Ranunculeae. Mousetail.

A genus of about 15 species, annual scapose herbs, nearly cosmopolitan (lacking in e. Asia and tropical regions), with a center of diversity in w. North America.

ID notes: The tremendously elongated receptacle of the flower is easily mistaken for a spikelike inflorescence (such as of Plantago).
