A genus of 350-400 species, depending on the controversial circumscription. Potentilla here follows the circumscription recommended by Eriksson, Persson, & Smedmark (2022), excluding Alchemilla, Aphanes, Argentina, Comarum, Dasiphora, Drymocallis, Fragaria, and Sibbaldiopsis (for our area), but including Duchesnea, following studies by Dobeš & Paule (2010), Soják (2010), Eriksson et al.
