Rumex Linnaeus. Subfamily: Polygonoideae. Tribe: Rumiceae. Dock.

Key to Rumex

A genus of about 200 species, perennial and annual herbs (and a few shrubs), of cosmopolitan distribution. Rumex should likely be (re)split with Acetosa accorded genus rank, a course strongly supported by the results (but not the rhetoric) of Koenemann, Kistler, & Burke (2023). We recognize Acetosa and Rumex at generic rank.

ID notes:Pedicel measurements include the true pedicel (below the joint) and the pseudopedicel (the stipe-like hypanthium above the joint or articulation).
