VIBURNACEAE

Viburnum plicatum Thunberg. Japanese Snowball, Doublefile Viburnum. Phen: Late May-early Jun. Hab: Suburban woodlands. Dist: Native of e. Asia. Reported as naturalizing in various states, including n. VA (Steury 2011), se. and sw. PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993), OH (Cooperrider 1995), MI (Voss 1996), and others, and apparently becoming more aggressive.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Syn: = C, G, K1, K3, K4, Mi, NE, Pa, McAtee (1956); > Viburnum plicatum var. tomentosa – Il, orthographic variant
