*Eleutherococcus sieboldianus (Makino) Koidzumi. Fiveleaf Aralia. Phen: Jun-Aug. Hab: Disturbed areas, persisting and spreading from horticultural use. Dist: Native of Japan. Reported as introduced and apparently naturalized in Randolph County, WV, scattered locations in PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993), OH, n. KY (Clark et al. 2005), and IL (Mohlenbrock 2014); this species is undoubtedly present in more localities and states than currently documented.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy: = K3, K4, Mi, NY, Frodin & Govaerts (2003); = Acanthopanax sieboldianus Makino – Il, Pa; = n/a – C, F, G; < Eleutherococcus pentaphyllus (Siebold & Zucc.) Nakai – K1, NE, misapplied
