VA northwards, and in thin soils around rock outcrops (especially on granitic domes in the Blue Ridge south of the Asheville Basin). Dist: NL (Labrador), QC west to BC, south to e. VA, w. NC, n. GA, c. TN, n. MI, c. MN, MB, SK, w. MT, n. ID, and nw. WA.
