Melampyrum lineare Desrousseaux. Cow-wheat. Phen: May-Jul; Aug-Sep. Hab: Dry rocky or sandy soils, including ridgetop woodlands, heath balds, sandy areas in the Coastal Plain from e. VA northwards, and in thin soils around rock outcrops (especially on granitic domes in the Blue Ridge south of the Asheville Basin). Dist: NL (Labrador), QC west to BC, south to e. VA, w. NC, n. GA, c. TN, n. MI, c. MN, MB, SK, w. MT, n. ID, and nw. WA.
