Taxonomy Comments: This taxon was named by Goldman et al. (2011) as a hybrid. Their evidence suggests that it is of hybrid origin involving Sabal minor × palmetto, but the genetic differentiation and its distant geography from existing populations of S. palmetto suggest it is better accorded status as a species of hybrid origin.
