Crataegus ×lucorum Sargent (pro species). Grove Hawthorn. Phen: May; Sep-Oct. Hab: Woodlands, streambanks. Dist: Sporadic in NY, OH, IN, IL (w. VA?).

ID notes: The mostly ovate, glabrous leaves, 20 stamens, purplish anthers and lightly villous inflorescences are distinctive traits.

Origin/Endemic status: Native
