Talinum paniculatum (Jacquin) Gaertner. Common name: Jewels-of-Opar, Pink Baby’s-breath, Rama del Sapo. Phenology: Jun-Oct. Habitat: Probably native in dry, open areas in s. TX; eastwards, fairly commonly cultivated, locally escaped to disturbed areas and garden edges. Distribution: Native of the the New World tropics, original area of nativity not clear, but probably s. TX and AZ south through Mexico, Central America to c. South America; West Indies. Serviss (2022b) documented its marginal naturalization in AR.
