Dichanthelium aculeatum (A.S. Hitchcock & Chase) LeBlond. Prickly Witchgrass. Phen: May-Sep (-later?). Hab: Near rivers, lakes, and swamps in open to wooded areas. Dist: Scattered from NY and MA south to NC and w. to OH. Last collected in 1989 on Cape Cod, and uncommon to rare throughout its range.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Superficially resembles D. scabriusculum, which has an entirely membranous ligule, a scabrous peduncle, and shorter spikelet features. Not treated in RAB and regarded as a putative hybrid by FNA.
