Crataegus viridis Linnaeus var. velutina (Sargent) J.B. Phipps. Velvety Green Hawthorn. Phen: Late Mar-late Apr; Sep-Nov. Hab: Bottomland forests, field borders, moist to wet woodlands. Dist: MS, AR, n. LA, e. TX.

ID notes: This taxon is most distinctive in spring; the vestiture wanes with the season and parts may be glabrate by autumn.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Synonymy: = FNA9, Lance (2014); > Crataegus micracantha Sarg.; > Crataegus velutina Sarg.
