Rosa virginiana P. Miller ssp. minidentata . Phen: Jun-Jul. Hab: Dunes and sandplains. Dist: NL (Newfoundland), NS, NH, VT, and MA south to Long Island (NY).
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: See Lewis (2016) for additional information, where he very briefly described this subspecies as apparently differing from R. virginiana ssp. virginiana by its densely setigerous lower stems and branches that bear aciculi and stipitate glands. Additionally, he stated that the teeth of the leaflet blades are smaller and number 12 per margin. More work is needed to corroborate the validity of this taxon.
