Habitat: Suburban woodlands, uncommonly planted, rarely naturalizing. Distribution: Native of Europe. Reported as naturalizing into suburban woodlands in Arlington County, VA, Fairfax County, VA, and City of Alexandria, VA (Wright et al. 2023; R.H. Simmons, pers.comm., 2024).

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Synonymy : = C, Can, FNA6, Il, K4, Mi, NE, NS, NY, POWO, Stace (2010); = n/a — Pa, Tat, Va; = Tilia cordata Mill. ssp. cordata — Pigott (2012). Basionym: Tilia cordata Mill. 1768
