Crataegus compacta Sargent. Clustered Hawthorn. Phen: May; Sep-Oct. Hab: Rocky hardwood forests, mountain pastures. Dist: NY, ONT, and MI, south to w. VA, WV, OH. This northern species is known in VA from only 3 counties.
