Lilium philadelphicum Linnaeus var. philadelphicum . Eastern Wood Lily, Appalachian Wood Lily. Phen: Jun-Jul; Aug-Oct. Hab: Grassy balds, moist to wet meadows (especially in thin soils over rock), open woodlands, limestone barrens. Dist: The species ranges from ME west to BC, south to NC, nw. GA (Jones & Coile 1988), KY, IL, IA, NE, and NM. Var. philadelphicum is eastern and mainly Appalachian, ranging from ME and s. ON south to NC, GA, and KY.
