Desmanthus brevipes B.L. Turner. Dwarf Bundle-flower. Phen: Apr-May (-Oct). Hab: Post oak or juniper woodlands, prairies, and along roadsides, most commonly found on sandy or gravelly soils but also on calcareous and clay soils. Dist: Sw. LA west along the coast to s. TX.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Sometimes treated at varietal rank (Luckow 1993), but seemingly warranting separate species status from the Argentinian D. tatuhyensis on morphological and geographic grounds (Luckow 2023).

Synonymy: = FNA11.1, Tx, Isely (1998); = Desmanthus tatuhyensis var. brevipes – K3, K4, Luckow (1993)
