Brassia caudata (Linnaeus) Lindley. Spider Orchid, Cricket Orchid. Phen: Jan-Aug. Hab: Rockland hammocks. Dist: S. FL (Miami-Dade County); West Indies (Cuba, Jamaica, and Hispaniola); Mexico, Central America, and n. South America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Other Comments: At the time of Luer's explorations in s. FL, Brassia caudata was limited to one remaining hammock in Miami-Dade County; live plants have not been seen in FL since 1976.
