Solanum bahamense Linnaeus. Bahama Nightshade, Cankerberry. Phen: Jan-Dec. Hab: Hammocks, dunes. Dist: S. FL; West Indies.

ID notes:Solanum bahamense is a shrub or small tree (to 4 m tall), with straight, yellow to orange prickles. "It is unique among the North American spiny solanums in having stellate hairs on the inner (adaxial) surface of the anthers" (Bohs 2023).

Origin/Endemic status: Native
