Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: This variety assimilates most of the southwestern Molles entities exhibiting pink to reddish anthers, a trait of provisional intraspecific value, but the genetic implications are not well understood. Interserial hybrids between var. texana entities and other sympatric species, including C. viridis, C. marshallii, and C. collina, are known.
