Allium keeverae D.B. Poindexter, Weakley, & P.J. Williams. Keever's Onion. Phen: May-Jun; Jun-Jul. Hab: In thin soils around rock outcrops, receiving nutrient-rich seepage and occurring with many calciphiles. Dist: Endemic to the Brushy Mountains in the nw. Piedmont of NC (Alexander and Wilkes counties).

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: This species was once considered to be merely a peculiar form of A. cuthbertii, more robust (4-8 dm tall) and with the perianth consistently pink; further study discovered additional differences that, in combination with the ecological and geographic disjunction, warrant species recognition (Poindexter, Weakley, & Williams 2017).

Synonymy: = K4, Poindexter, Weakley, & Williams (2017) in Weakley et al (2017); = n/a – S, S13; < Allium cuthbertii Small – FNA26, K1, K3, RAB, W
