*Carex kobomugi Ohwi. Section: [26k] Section 8 Macrocephalae. Sea Isle Sedge, Japanese Beach Sedge, Asian Sand Sedge. Phen: Mar-Jul. Hab: Sand dunes, especially on fore-dunes. Dist: Native of Japan.

ID notes:C. kobomugi is distinctive in its short stout culms, and its terminal, headlike, dioecious inflorescences. This species is planted as a stabilizer of coastal dunes.
