*Carex ovalis Goodenough. Section: [26q] Section 12 Ovales. Egg-bracted Sedge. Phen: Jun-Aug. Hab: Grassy balds, disturbed areas. Dist: Native of Eurasia. Known to range in North America from NL (Newfoundland) and NY south to w. NC and ne. TN.

Origin/Endemic status: Eurasia

Taxonomy Comments: The records reported in RAB and elsewhere of C. aenea are actually misidentified material of this species (A.A. Reznicek, pers. comm., 2005).

Synonymy : = FNA23, K1, NE, Pa, Tn; >< Carex aenea Fernald – RAB, misapplied (based on misidentified material); < Carex leporina L. – C, F, G, K4, misapplied; ? Carex tracyi Mack.
