Carex tenera Dewey. Section: [26q] Section 12 Ovales. Slender Sedge, Quill Sedge. Phen: May-Jul. Hab: Low forests, upland forests over hardpans, mesic prairies, wet ditches. Dist: NS west to BC, south to VA, NC, n. GA, ne. TN, MO, KS, WY, and OR.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Carex echinodes (Fernald) P. Rothrock, Reznicek, & Hipp has sometimes been lumped into or treated as a variety of C. tenera, but warrants specific status.
