Carex backii Boott. Section: [26kkk] Section 44 Phyllostachyae. Back's Sedge. Phen: May-Jul. Hab: Rocky woodlands and forests, cliff bases. Dist: QC west to BC, south to NJ, PA, IA, and CO. Historic in our area (NJ, PA). Occurring further north in a few scattered areas of central NY, but otherwise no longer considered extant in our flora region.
