Carex chapmanii Steudel. Section: [26aa] Section 18 Paniceae. Chapman's Sedge. Phen: Apr-May. Hab: Edges of calcareous pine savannas, calcareous slopes and bottomlands, mesic hammocks, stream terraces. Dist: Se. NC south to c. peninsular FL, on the Coastal Plain; allegedly disjunct in nc. TN (Chester et al. 1993)

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: The affinities of this species are questionable; it is usually placed in section Paniceae, but may actually belong to Laxiflorae.

Synonymy: = FNA23, K1, K3, K4, RAB, S; = Carex chapmannii – WH3, Mackenzie (1931-1935), orthographic variant; = Carex styloflexa Buckley var. fusiformis (Chapm. ex Dewey) Wiegand
