Clematis texensis Buckley. Subgenus: Viorna. Scarlet Clematis, Red Leatherflower. Phen: Late Mar-Jun. Hab: In oak-juniper woodlands in mesic rocky limestone canyons or along perennial streams. Dist: Endemic to Edwards Plateau region of c. TX, and immediately adjoining areas.

Origin/Endemic status: Native
