Crataegus ouachitensis E.J. Palmer. Ouachita Hawthorn. Phen: Apr; Sep-Oct. Hab: Thickets along streams, rocky ridges and slopes. Dist: Endemic to the Ouachita Mountain region of AR.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: This species presents intermediate morphology between series Intricatae and Pruinosae, and its true serial placement is in question. Putative hybrids with Crataegus marshallii that have been previously designated as var. minor Palmer should more appropriately be assigned nothospecies status.

Synonymy: < Crataegus intricata Lange – K3; > Crataegus ouachitensis E.J.Palmer var. minor E.J.Palmer – FNA9; > Crataegus ouachitensis E.J.Palmer var. ouachitensis – FNA9
