Crataegus coccinioides Ashe. Kansas Hawthorn, Broadleaf Hawthorn. Phen: May; Oct. Hab: Thin woodlands, prairies, scrubland, pastures. Dist: PA w. to IL, MO, se. KS, s. to KY, AR, OK. Reported from a single county in WV.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: The mid-western species C. coccinioides is considered conspecific with the eastern C. dilatata Sargent, the latter formerly thought to range chiefly in New England. C. coccinioides is occasionally cultivated.

Other Comments: C. coccinioides is occasionally cultivated.
