Crataegus marshallii Eggleston. Parsley Hawthorn, Parsley Haw. Phen: Apr-early May; Sep-Oct. Hab: Swamps, alluvial forests, mesic to subxeric upland slopes over mafic or calcareous rocks. Dist: Se. VA south to c. peninsular FL, west to e. TX, and north in the interior to n. AL, sc. and w. TN, n. MS, s. IL, se. MO, se. OK.
ID notes:Crataegus marshallii is distinctive and immediately recognizable by its deeply incised, pubescent leaves with slender petioles, small (4-7 mm) fruits and the scaly, mottled trunk bark.
