Eurybia avita (Alexander) Nesom. Subgenus: Heleastrum. Section: Heleastrum. Alexander's Rock Aster. Phen: Aug-Oct. Hab: In shallow soils on granitic flatrocks and granitic domes where moist from seasonal seepage. Dist: Upper Piedmont endemic: w. SC to wc. GA. Previous reports from the NC Blue Ridge are based on misidentifications of E. surculosa.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A diploid species (2n=18).

Synonymy: = FNA20, K1, K3, K4, Nesom (1994b); = Aster avitus Alexander – SE1, W, Kral (1983a); = n/a – RAB
