Pilea fontana (Lunell) Rydberg. Blackfruit Clearweed, Lesser Clearweed. Phen: Aug-Sep; Sep-Nov. Hab: Swamp forests, freshwater marshes, tidal marshes, calcareous wetlands, sand bars. Dist: E. Canada west to MN and ND, south to FL, IN, and NE; disjunct in n. AL.

ID notes:While P. fontana is only reliably distinguishable from P. pumila using fruits, it is somewhat less shiny and transparent-translucent.
