Rhynchospora decurrens Chapman. Swamp-forest Beaksedge. Phen: Jul-Aug. Hab: Swamp forests and river marshes, especially along blackwater rivers. Dist: Se. NC and e. SC (McMillan & Porcher 2005) south to c. peninsular FL and west to s. MS (Sorrie & Leonard 1999).

ID notes:This is a fairly robust species, as the stems are about a meter tall. The inflorescence is initially erect, eventually arching over. The seeds are dark brown, flat-sided or slightly bi-convex, with many transverse ribs. The seed beaks are triangular, and the bristles are as long as the seed body or slightly shorter.
