Sanicula canadensis Linnaeus var. floridana (E.P. Bicknell) H. Wolff. Florida Sanicle, Florida Snakeroot. Phen: Apr-May; Jun-Jul. Hab: Dry-mesic to mesic, sandy forests, often associated with Fagus grandifolia (and southward Magnolia grandiflora). Dist: Se. VA south to c. peninsular FL, west to TX, in the Coastal Plain.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Additional differences between var. floridana and var. canadensis should be investigated. They may not be worthy of taxonomic differentiation.
