Silene catesbyi Walter. Eastern Fringed Catchfly, Fringed Campion. Phen: Mid-Mar-early May. Hab: Mesic deciduous forests along streams or on lower- to mid-slopes. Dist: C. GA south to Panhandle FL, and possibly in AL based on a C.T. Mohr specimen (see FNA).

Taxonomy Comments: Ward (2006) discusses the nomenclatural change from 'polypetala' to 'catesbaei'. Additionally, the epithet has traditionally been spelled catesbaei; this is necessarily corrected to catesbyi under provisions of the Code (Weakley & Poindexter 2020).
