Solidago altissima Linnaeus var. pluricephala M.C. Johnston. Subgenus: Pleiactila. Section: Unilaterales. Subsection: Triplinervae. Series: Canadenses. Southern Tall Goldenrod. Phen: Aug-Oct. Hab: Fields, roadsides, disturbed areas. Dist: Se. VA, NC, TN, AR, and OK south to c. peninsular FL, s. TX, and adjacent Mexico.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: See Semple et al. (2015) for detailed information. Semple (2022) reports tetraploid (2n=36), pentaploid (2n=45), and hexaploid (2n=54) chromosome counts for var. pluricephala, with hexaploid counts across most of its distribution, except tetraploid counts in w. LA and TX; the lone pentaploid count is from s. TX.
