Sporobolus ozarkanus Fernald. Ozark Dropseed. Phen: Aug-Oct. Hab: Limestone glades, diabase glades. Dist: KY west to KS, south to e. TN, AR, and TX; disjunct in c. NC.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Other Comments: In Granville County, NC, it is associated (on glades of diabase, a mafic rock) with other taxa with affinities to midwestern glades and prairies: Solidago jacksonii, Solidago ptarmicoides, Baptisia aberrans, Symphyotrichum depauperatum, Silphium terebinthinaceum, Parthenium auriculatum, Ruellia humilis, and others. S. ozarkanus, S. neglectus, and S. vaginiflorus form a still very poorly understood complex.
