Habitat: Rich, mesic to dry, deciduous or mixed forests, especially over calcareous substrates. Distribution: Sw. PA, s. OH, s. IL south to c. NC, c. SC, c. GA, sc. AL, e. MS, and w. TN; disjunct in nw. AR.
