Carex platyphylla Carey. Section: [26dd] Section 21 Careyanae. Common name: Broadleaf Sedge. Phenology: Apr-Jun. Habitat: Rich cove forests, mostly over mafic or calcareous rock. Distribution: ME and s. QC west to WI, south to , nw. SC, NC, e. TN, and MO.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Naczi (1999b) reported a chromosome number of n = 35.

Synonymy : = C, Can, F, FNA23, G, Il, K4, Mi, NE, NS, NY, Pa, POWO, RAB, S, Tat, Tn, Va, W, Mackenzie (1931-1935). Basionym: Carex platyphylla Carey 1847
