Carex platyphylla Carey. Section: [26dd] Section 21 Careyanae. Broadleaf Sedge. Phen: Apr-Jun. Hab: Rich cove forests, mostly over mafic or calcareous rock. Dist: ME and s. QC west to WI, south to , nw. SC, NC, e. TN, and MO.

Taxonomy Comments: Naczi (1999b) reported a chromosome number of n = 35.
