Carex polymorpha Muhlenberg. Section: [26aa] Section 18 Paniceae. Common name: Variable Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Dry, acidic ridgetop forests. Distribution: ME south to MD, VA, and WV.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Standley, Dudley, & Bruederle (1991) studied genetic variability in this species.

Synonymy : = C, F, FNA23, G, K4, NE, NS, NY, Pa, POWO, Tat, Va, W, Mackenzie (1931-1935). Basionym: Carex polymorpha Muhl. 1817
