Carex schweinitzii Dewey ex Schweinitz. Common name: Schweinitz's Sedge. Phenology: Jun. Habitat: Calcareous fens, spring marshes, seeps, wet meadows, bogs. Distribution: VT west to n. MI, south to NJ (and MO?); disjunct in NL (Newfoundland). The distribution of this species is local and fragmented. Reported occurrences of C. schweinitzii in w. NC are based on misidentification of C. utriculata. Rejected from the TN flora (Tennessee Flora Committee 2015).
