Schoenoplectus torreyi (Olney) Palla. Common name: Torrey's Bulrush, Torrey's Threesquare. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Sinkhole ponds. Distribution: New Brunswick west to Manitoba, south to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, w. Virginia, Missouri, and Nebraska. Known in Virginia only from natural ponds in Augusta and Rockingham counties. Reported as new to Maryland (Longbottom, Naczi, & Knapp 2016).
