Scirpus pallidus (Britton) Fernald. Common name: Cloaked Bulrush. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Marshes. Distribution: ON west to BC, south to WI, MO, TX, NM, AZ, OR. Possibly disjunct (and if so, probably introduced) in se. PA (reported by Rhoads & Klein [1993] but not by Rhoads & Block [2007]) and NJ (Kartesz [1999, 2010], with no definite county location).
