*Aira praecox Linnaeus. Common name: Early Hair Grass, Spike Hairgrass. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Fields, roadsides, disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. Reported for NC by Burk (1961), and collected in the NC Sandhills (B. Sorrie, pers.comm. 2004).

Origin/Endemic status: Europe
