Dichanthelium boreale (Nash) Freckmann. Northern Witchgrass. Phen: May-Oct. Hab: In moist soils of meadows, grasslands, thickets, and woodlands. Dist: NL west to ON, south to MD and IA.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Dichanthelium bicknellii was formerly included under D. boreale but is distinctly different with longer and narrower culm leaf blades that are often > 20× as long as wide, and increase in length up the culm.

Synonymy: = FNA25, Mi, NY; = Panicum boreale Nash – F, G, HC; < Dichanthelium boreale (Nash) Freckmann – K1, K3, K4, Pa, Gould & Clark (1978); < Panicum boreale Nash – C
