Dichanthelium boreale (Nash) Freckmann. Common name: Northern Witchgrass. Phenology: May-Oct. Habitat: In moist soils of meadows, grasslands, thickets, and woodlands. Distribution: NL west to ON, south to MD and IA.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Dichanthelium bicknellii was formerly included under D. boreale but is distinctly different with longer and narrower culm leaf blades that are often > 20× as long as wide, and increase in length up the culm.
